Markham Roberts' new book
A lot of great books have come out this fall but our hands-down favorite has been Markham Roberts’ “Decorating The Way I See It” published by Vendome Press. Roberts trained under Mark Hampton before starting his own business 17 years ago and this book is a wonderful showcase of some of his best projects. What we love most about Roberts’ style is his ability to make very traditional furniture and prints feel fresh. His rooms have the feeling that they will never grow tired or feel out of date. They’re classic with a twist and oh so luxurious and rich looking. He is a master of details leaving no lampshade un-trimmed, no wall uncovered (take notice of all of the incredible ways he enhances walls from wallpaper and fabric to decorative finishes and paneling). If you’re looking for inspiration this fall, look no further than Roberts’ truly delightful book.
Roberts loves to use the color green in his interiors. This Hamptons living room is one of our all time favorite rooms Roberts has designed.

One of the many ways Roberts makes sure his rooms don’t read “granny” is by hanging contemporary art like this large scale glossy photograph, below.
A pattern heavy living room with incredible peacock blue lacquered walls.

Roberts has become known for details like this chair below with a different fabric on the back as the front.

Great color combination.

We love how he painted stripes over the grasscloth.
