Five Fabulous Finds
We took a quick trip down to Miami last week to walk the art fairs and see what’s new. We always find that it’s a great way to see new work, discover new artists and get inspired in a very short amount of time. The fair at the convention center is a must to see what pieces the big blue chip galleries are showing, but we especially enjoy going to the smaller fairs like NADA and Untitled, known for breaking artists. You can find many more affordable works at these fairs and it’s often where we discover artists we weren’t previously familiar with. Scroll through the gallery below to see a few of our favorites!
We discovered the work of Mimi Lautner who recently had her first solo show at Blum & Poe. The pieces in the video below are from a collection of chromatic oil and soft-pastel works on paper. Each composition begins with a coating of pastel that is scraped down to create a smooth surface that will hold the weight and structure of additional layers. We thought they were just beautiful.
