When Amanda Brooks, former fashion director for Barneys New York, moved to the Cotswolds with her husband and family some 17 years ago, her focus was largely on family, travel, and entertaining. Once her two teenagers left for boarding school, she began to think about the possibility of curating a small shop where she could sell the beautiful things she’d come to love during her travels. When a local shop owner in the village of Stow-on-the-Wold mentioned that she was looking for a tenant, Amanda’s dream began to take hold. Her incredibly chic version of a “country store” sells everything from flowy cotton dresses and skirts to exotic scented candles. But the main focus of the shop is on tabletop. Amanda’s Instagram often features birds-eye views of her beautifully set tables set with ceramic artisanal plates from La Tuile à Loup, flatware from Sabre Paris, and hand-blocked quilted placemats and matching cloth napkins from Zojora, a Singapore-based shop.
