Thanksgiving Ready with Amanda Brooks

Tucked Under
Cutter Brooks, a chic "country store" in Stow-on-the-Wold takes a fresh approach to setting the dinner table.
A festive combination of gingham table linens and colorful plates.

When Amanda Brooks, former fashion director for Barneys New York, moved to the Cotswolds with her husband and family some 17 years ago, her focus was largely on family, travel, and entertaining. Once her two teenagers left for boarding school, she began to think about the possibility of curating a small shop where she could sell the beautiful things she’d come to love during her travels. When a local shop owner in the village of Stow-on-the-Wold mentioned that she was looking for a tenant, Amanda’s dream began to take hold. Her incredibly chic version of a “country store” sells everything from flowy cotton dresses and skirts to exotic scented candles. But the main focus of the shop is on tabletop. Amanda’s Instagram often features birds-eye views of her beautifully set tables set with ceramic artisanal plates from La Tuile à Loup, flatware from Sabre Paris, and hand-blocked quilted placemats and matching cloth napkins from Zojora, a Singapore-based shop. Her table settings are always an inspired global mix and a refreshing alternative to the autopilot roll out of wedding china and silver we often get stuck in. Right now it’s all about setting the dinner table to suit your mood, the season, and the party. And we love how Amanda is bringing this to the forefront.

A peek inside her shop just oozing with English countryside charm. We’re big fans of her selection of striped pillows and herbiers hanging on the wall.

Have a look at some of the gorgeous arrangements of plates, silverware, and table linens she has put together since opening her shop. We love how Amanda has made her signature curated look available online at Cutter Brooks.

A lovely moment in the shop.

We’re inspired to up our game this Thanksgiving. How about you?
