Bringing the Indoors Out
Designers often talk about “bringing the outdoors in” but what about bringing the indoors out? While most of us in the city aren’t fortunate enough to have a backyard, there’s always a small patio (of your own or a friend’s) that can use some sprucing up! Throw away those folding chairs and take a look at some of our favorite outdoor furniture pieces. Whether its lounging pool side, or enjoying an iced tea on the apartment balcony, there’s no reason why your outdoor space shouldn’t be just as chic as the inside of your home.
This sofa by David Francis Furniture would look equally good outside on the patio as it would in a sunny conservatory. We love how comfy the cushions are–perfect for an afternoon nap.
These Gio Ponti style wicker chairs are destined to brighten any space with their bold green hue. Would love to see those seat cushions reupholstered in a bright floral chintz. Vintage hooded back lawn chairs from Nickey Kehoe are very dramatic but oh so chic! These too would look great refinished in a bold color.
A traditional design in an unexpected material, the wicker Mortimer table from Soane would be the perfect setting for an outdoor brunch or a card game with friends. How do you bring the indoors out? Would love to hear more about the furniture pieces you’re relaxing on when it’s 70 and sunny.
From statement-making prints to classic geometrics and stripes, Redd’s first textile collection for Schumacher is making us swoon.
