Lauren’s Pied a Terre

The venerable history of Lauren’s Upper East Side apartment (designed by Ogden Codman, Jr. and Edith Wharton, authors of The Decoration of Houses, 1897) inspired in her an obsession to make each room worthy of its predecessors. That meant comfortable upholstered pieces in unexpected fabrics (like her sofa, with a pop of leopard print on the cushions) or the club chair that sits proudly next to it (done in her favorite Charles Burger fabric designed in 1860). Lauren and her then-boyfriend, now-husband Chris', collection of contemporary art on the apartment’s pristine white pre-war walls give it a downtown edge despite its uptown address.
